Intusoft Releases (8.x.11 v. 3090) SPICE Simulation Tool Suite

Gardena, CA (September 25, 2007) - Intusoft announced today the release of its ICAP/4 8.x.11 Build 3090 SPICE-simulation tool suite for analog, mixed-signal and mixed-system design. A host of enhancements have been added to the 11th-generation software from its former Build 2817, including compliance with the Windows Vista and 64-bit operating systems. The "x" in 8.x.11 deciphers Intusoft's scalable solutions that extend to its premiere ICAP/4 Professional and Test Designer products.

Supports Windows Vista and 64-bit Platforms:

In addition to other Windows platforms, 8.x.11 now operates on "Windows Vista," to meet the demands of Microsoft's ongoing product evolution. Vista, known for its enhanced graphical user interface, security enhancements, and optional 32- or 64- bit versions, has evolved from its predecessor "Windows XP." Paralleling this progression, Intusoft's Build 3090 accommodates Vista and other popular Windows platforms, in either 32- or 64-bit versions.

Software Enhancements Driven by Reference Accounts:

Tim Ghazaleh, director of marketing for Intusoft, commented that the company's reference accounts have spawned a number of features for Build 3090. Several product enhancements were installed across the "SpiceNet" design entry system, "IsSpice4" simulation output file, automated electrical measurements readout, reliability analysis, waveform viewing and modeling areas. Many of Build 3090's features target further ease of use with pre - and post - simulation tasks. New functionality includes plotting expressions for time, frequency, temperature, voltage and current for resistors, capacitors and inductors; exporting signal waveform data to Excel; automated Pspice-to-IsSpice4 model netlist converter; and two sister routines added to ICAP/4's existing "Worst Case" and "Extreme Value" design-reliability analyses. New operability enhancements include easier component parametric sweep setup with a more informative readout, new warning messages that disallow simulation if operator error is encountered, and an additional "New User's Tutorial 2" for learning advanced software features in only an hour. A complete features list for Build 3090 is available at: http://www.intusoft.com/featurechanges.htm.

Industry's Largest Device Model Library:

In the modeling domain, Intusoft's free custom-modeling program added 25 new simulation models to ICAP/4's previous release of 40 new devices. These are custom models developed by the company's in-house modeling staff. This brings the total simulation library size to more than 23,600 device models - the largest offering in the industry. Also, the latest Berkeley BSIM4 v4.6.1 has been added for IC design.

ICAP/4 provides a "New User's Tutorial," which enables quick success in basic design entry operations; simulation setup and execution; cross-probing a schematic for waveforms; waveform processing and calculator operations; window configuration management; component sweeping and more, all in an hour's time. Build 3090's "New User's Tutorial 2" adds in ICAP/4's unique ability to create schematic layers and design configurations; device parametric sweeping; Monte Carlo statistical analysis; automated assignment and recording of a host of electrical measurements for any component or design node, including min-nom-max test limits and pass/fail histograms; new model creation from devices found on the web; and automated fault simulation. The fullest ICAP/4 capability is included in Intusoft's "Test Designer" product, which adds unique automated test synthesis and fault diagnosis for analog and mixed-signal design. An extensive collection of in-application help, movies, and manuals are also part of Intusoft's design-automation products.

Product Backgrounder:

ICAP/4 8.x.11 Build 3090 is a fully integrated design simulation tool suite consisting of design entry and management tools, analog and mixed-signal circuit simulation, full-featured design debug and verification capability, fault synthesis, and automated export to Bartels AutoEngineer® PCB system. The scalable product line starts at $249 US, with all product offerings based on Intusoft's IsSpice4, 4th-generation SPICE technology. ICAP/4 is built on significantly enhanced SPICE 3F5 and XSPICE. Depending on the offering, features include a full scripting language to optionally modify or create new simulation and waveform-processing functions; schematic-less device parametric variation; 30 power supply design templates; dedicated power-electronic and RF simulation libraries; magnetic design and synthesis option; fully integrated waveform viewer and signal processor that includes random cross-probing to schematic; pole/zero and 2-port analyses; circuit optimization; Smith and Nyquist charts; automated assignment and charting of electrical measurements including out-of-limit alarms; extensive parts management system; IBIS2SPICE converter through version 3.2; fault injection with optional test diagnosis; and a configurable design and debug windows environment.
